51s shut out Isotopes to finish regular season

Five pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Las Vegas 51s wrapped up the Pacific Coast League regular season with a 5-0 win at Albuquerque.

Starter Noah Syndergaard went just two innings as Las Vegas prepares for the postseason. He allowed a hit and a run. John Lannan gave up one hit over three innings of relief to earn the win.

Taylor Teagarden and Cesar Puello each had two hits and scored two runs to pace the 51s offense.

Roger Bernadina went 3-for-3 in the loss for the Isotopes (62-80), who had won the first three games of the series.

Las Vegas will open the PCL Pacific Conference Championship Series against the Reno Aces at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday. Reno beat the Sacramento River Cats, 2-1, in 10 innings in a do-or-die game Monday to wrap up the Northern Division title.

The 51s finished at 81-63 for the second straight season and again won the Pacific Southern crown. They will host the first two games of the series.
