Eight-run second sparks CSN to 15-7 win in district baseball tournament

College of Southern Nevada scored eight runs in the second inning Thursday, and Ali Deolarte homered twice and drove in five runs in a 15-7 victory over Trinidad (Colo.) State College in the first round of the Western District baseball tournament at Morse Stadium.
CSN (45-16) will meet Yavapai (43-16) of Prescott, Ariz., at 3 p.m. today in the double-elimination tournament for a berth in Saturday’s championship game. Yavapai defeated Salt Lake (38-23) 12-8 on Thursday.
Salt Lake plays Trinidad (34-22) at noon in an elimination game. The winner plays at 7 p.m. against the loser of the CSN-Yavapai game.
The Coyotes took control early against Trinidad, going ahead 9-0 after two innings.
