Bettor goes 12-0, parlays $200 wager into $50,000-plus UFC 131 windfall

One lucky bettor turned $200, a few hunches and a little luck into a big payday Saturday.

According to online sports book Bodog, one bettor placed a $200 wager on a 12-fight parlay and correctly picked the winner of all 12 bouts at UFC 131 in Vancouver, British Columbia, for a payoff of more than $50,000.

The favorite was victorious in all but two of the fights.

Joey Beltran, who was about a plus-130 pick against Aaron Rosa, was one of the two underdogs to win.

The other upset winner involved a little bit of luck, as the parlay would have been lost on the first undercard fight of the night.

Darren Elkins (plus-200) was awarded a controversial decision over Michihiro Omigawa, though most observers thought Omigawa should have been victorious.

Bodog also posted a number on the future heavyweight title bout between Junior dos Santos and champion Cain Velasquez, with Velasquez installed as an early minus-150 favorite.

Immediately after dos Santos dominated Shane Carwin on Saturday, several mixed martial arts odds sites and gambling websites posted on Twitter that dos Santos would open as a slight favorite over Velasquez.

Richard Gardner, the sports book manager at Bodog, said that was a knee-jerk reaction.

"We did hear that (dos Santos) was being touted as an early favorite by some, but right from the start we had Cain as a clear favorite in this matchup," Gardner said. "I guess people were caught up in the hype after dos Santos' win over Carwin."

No date or site has been officially announced for dos Santos-Velasquez, though they could meet at UFC 136 on Oct. 8 in Houston, a card that has yet to be confirmed by the organization.
