November 7, 2014 - 9:19 pm
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Burns Turn - Mike Smith has been riding in great form; can’t blame him for the loss on Shared Belief, he got mugged at the start.
7 Tebowing - Came out of the clouds to win last out at Del Mar; surprised she’s not on synthetics instead of turf tonight.
Long Shot - 5 Marina Del Heat
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
6 Holiday Maker - Claimed by Julio Canani off a sharp second; gets a serious class rise, but facing a slower group despite the price tag.
2 Grand Yodeler - Class relief from the Generous Portion stakes for the price tag; suspect has room to improve in third career start.
Long Shot - 1 Racing for Chasen
Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Tribal Dude - Bob Hess gets this one reunited with Kent Desormeaux; his lone career win came over synthetics at Del Mar.
7 Red Man Run - Is 0-for-9 lifetime over synthetics but has run some creditable tries; Tyler Baze takes over for a more aggressive ride.
Long Shot - 2 Raise the Hoof
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
3 Ethnic Dance - Mixed reviews on rating tactics on grass; appears better suited to go to the lead or sit close up throughout.
6 Snaps - Took back last time and flew home late for a big win under Mike Smith; skipped Los Alamitos and Santa Anita for this.
Long Shot - 1 Press Baron
Race 5 - 1 mile, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 Dress Code - Claimed by Vann Belvoir out of an awful try at Santa Anita; his races before that, especially on synthetics, are good.
5 Perfect Set - Alex Solis hasn’t won many races this year and is trying to re-establish himself in SoCal; gets a live one in here.
Long Shot - 3 Dreamy Kid
Race 6 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Paulina’s Love - Ran great in debut when second going a mile on grass; double tough if improves just a step or two.
6 Sweeter Thancandy - Like the idea that Mark Glatt switched to Gary Stevens; green try in last, slow early but very fast late.
Long Shot - 5 C’Mon Sister
Race 7 - 1 mile, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Fleet of Gold - Could Alex Solis win two on this card?; like the idea of a rail post going a mile, cuts the corner saving ground.
6 Kirov - Shown steady improvement in all three career starts; graduated last time with a gutty head verdict.
Long Shot - 9 Grazenette
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet), $75,000 Let It Ride, 3-year-olds
6 Awesome Return - Has enough tactical speed to carve out his own trip; Mike Smith replacing suspended Joe Talamo for this.
1 Forever Juanito - Has done better down the hill at Santa Anita; ran twice at a mile on turf, draws inside which can better his trip.
Long Shot - 5 I’ll Wrap It Up
Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Intaxication - Showed good early speed in debut before tiring late; steep class drop can flatter his speed if a no passing zone field.
3 Takeit Tothe Limit - Has teased with three straight in the money finishes; will be part of the early mix, but must show more gumption.
Long Shot - 7 Win Wish
Best Bet - 4 Intaxication (race 9)
Del Mar Friday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/5/$23.80; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
