Horse Racing: Today at Del Mar, Oct. 31

Post Time 12:45 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Amberella – She is ineligible to be claimed, that is a strong trainer betting angle; was impressive in her debut maiden claiming win, she has a lot of conditions too.
3 Yet Anotherkafwain – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this new lowest level; her maiden claiming win two back, if repeated, is fast enough to beat these.
Long Shot – 6 Nazareth

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
3 Tannersmyuncle – Last time he won was in the O/C class five races ago; won for a bugboy that day and has the talented Ty Kennedy up tonight.
2 Hye I'm Jack – Has been closing well which is his trait; gets Corey Nakatani to ride with main man Rafael Bejarano at Keeneland today for the Breeders' Cup.
Long Shot – 5 W. Giles

Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Jade With Envy – This is a class she feels very comfortable at; has more tactical speed to sit mid-pack and come grinding in the stretch.
5 West Coast Storm – Claimed by trainer Richard Baltas and tried on turf in last; turned in a very promising effort and returns with 7-pounds of weight off.
Long Shot – 3 Barbara Beatrice

Race 4 – 6 ½ furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 Monument – Has returned to real dirt with some success in last two starts; not much to beat in here if he's feeling his oats.
2 Half Dome Dude – Trainer Christopher O'Dell has not been seen in quite a while; he claimed this horse four races ago and seems to be nursing him into better form.
Long Shot – 4 Dress Code

Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
8 Award It – She is bred to be any kind, although her talent has shown through yet; Richard Mandella adding blinkers on and first time with Lasix.
6 Lemon Drop Sis – She was dueled into exhaustion in last in a pop and stop turf sprint; Jerry Hollendorfer adding blinkers on so expect even more early speed.
Long Shot – 5 That's a Lady

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Avo – Big rider switch to Corey Nakatani for the money shot; has been knocking on the door and may break it down in a real slowpoke field.
3 Aparri – The best speed figure of her life was in her career debut in tougher MSW company; now that she is running at the bottom rung she should feel very comfortable.
Long Shot – 9 Motutapu

Race 7 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet), $75,000 Let It Ride, 3-year-olds
4 Daddy D T – Has shown a fondness for sod so this restricted stakes makes a lot of sense; tactical speed to sit a nice trip with the turf rail out 12 feet.
6 Ground Rules – Tries turf for the first time, but has strong pedigree for it by Smart Strike out of a Deputy Minister mare; would not shock me to run a big race.
Long Shot – 3 Perfectly Majestic

Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Finest City – Ran OK in her grass debut in last, but her MSW win on dirt two back was a real corker; if she runs back to that she will be double tough.
5 Pleasant as Pie – After a delightful debut win in MSW class, regressed in last facing winners for the first time; has good reasons to rebound for Ron Ellis tonight.
Long Shot – 2 Stealth Drone

Race 9 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 12 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
3 Sheeza Milky Way – Was way overmatched in the grade 1 Chandelier last out; this is reality in a MSW on the grass, has shown some turf ability already.
2 Two Steps of Glory – Outran her high 23/1 odds in last in a turf debut down the hillside turf course; stretches out around 2-turns but shows good promise.
Long Shot – 8 Dreamarcher
