TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Paris Affair - Taking a huge class drop to face easier; value with rider switch to Alex Bisono.
1 Halo Rae - Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry, so caveat emptor; both debut for a price tag, bypassing MSW condition.
Long Shot - 5 Pure Smiles
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
3 Tribal Custom - Returns to Inglewood where she broke her maiden last fall; edge of training here all year long.
6 Miss Robyn - Taking a large class drop to face much easier; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Long Shot - 1 Myntz Connection
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Dynamize - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; has a lot of 2-turn experience.
9 Milk Man Ray - He ran for this $20K price tag at the start of his career; chance due to the weakness of the field.
Long Shot - 5 Ancient Stone
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Cragmont - Beat the morning line favorite last time out; his race two back is fast enough to upset these.
7 Idontrollonshabbos - No win machine, he clearly runs fast enough to beat these; may just inherit the lead late.
Long Shot - 10 Half Dome Dude
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $62,000, Optional claiming 480,000, 4-year-olds and up
1 Wilkinson - Jeff Mullins has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; gets class relief from stakes for this.
3 Willyconker - His race two back, if repeated, will beat these; these are his friends at this $80K class level.
Long Shot - 6 Temple’s Door
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Gelila - Been away since October, returns at a career low class; John Shirreffs may just be playing cat and mouse.
2 Samurai Jess - Doug O’Neill is an equal opportunity trainer; one of the few giving Saul Arias a live mount or two.
Long Shot - 1 Pine Walk
Race 7 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Muchos Besos - Claimed by Mike Pupye off a monstrous win over lesser; has back class where he can repeat the effort.
8 Keyboard Courage - Another who beat lesser in last, but did it easily; odd race with horses moving up and down in class.
Long Shot - 4 Bluegrass Reward
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
13 Warren’s Nicholas - Should draw in off the also eligible list; flattered when Super Ability won next time out.
4 Real Heat - Value could come from Rafael Bejarano off; Eric Kruljac is taking the blinkers off tonight.
Long Shot - 12 In a Wine Tizzy
Best Bet - 8 Gelila (race 6)
Hollywood Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/4/$29.60; Long Shots, 6/1/$9.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
