Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, February 12
February 11, 2015 - 9:02 pm
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
4 Room for Me - Takes a big class drop to face much easier; last seen at Del Mar fall facing a much tougher group.
1 Silk in Silver - Like the rail post going a flat mile; should get a speed trip inside under bugboy Brandon Boulanger.
Long Shot - 3 Belonging
Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up
1 Holy Lute - Rafael Bejarano gets off him despite a win and DQ last time; Mike Smith is a capable sub and this one did finish first.
2 U S Citizen - Has an admirable mark down the tricky hillside turf course; Kent Desormeaux is riding 20 years younger this meet.
Long Shot - 4 Forever Juanito
Race 3 - 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up
2 Burning - Was a grinding third last time while facing winners; this has to be easier facing all maidens like himself.
10 Militant - Ran well in last from a parking lot post; never threatened to win but still ran into the number with a nice rally.
Long Shot - 7 Salt of the Earth
Race 4 - 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
J and S Express - Has been productive since claimed three races ago by Kristin Mulhall; don’t mind the wide post for this stalker type.
5 Adellusion - Rafael Bejarano is best in the jock’s room for finding a good position; this one will sit midpack and make one brush.
Long Shot - 3 Toomanytomatoes
Race 5 - 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
3 Egyptian Empire - After two good seconds is due for her first tally; Drayden Van Dyke looks good so far riding without the bug allowance.
7 Loufoque - Tepid chalk in another wide open affair; Richard Mandella takes the blinkers off, but leaves Victor Espinoza on.
Long Shot - 1 Nicegirlsfnishlast
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds and up
12 Price of Glory - Has enough early speed to overcome a parking lot post; sliding down the maiden claiming ladder to this bottom rung.
10 Rocket Heat - Tepid chalk in another wide open affair; taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming.
Long Shot - 11 Guyfromtheskyfive
Race 7 - 6 furlongs, Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
1 Wasted at Midnight - Tiny edge in another difficult heat; beaten favorite has won on the lead or can sit just off the pacesetters.
5 Clearly Confused - Rafael Bejarano will ride more than his share of favorites on any SoCal card; he’s had much success for Richard Baltas.
Long Shot - 3 Harlington’s Rose
Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, 4-year-olds
1 Tosheen - Second start off the claim by Jack Carava; he’s a capable trainer but hasn’t had much stock to work with lately.
6 Synnin - Has won twice on grass so we know he likes the stuff; has never been down the hill before, but has Alex Solis to guide him.
Long Shot -3 Friendwith K Mill
