Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, Mar. 28
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile, Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Kristinite - Sliding back down with maidens and for a price tag; has yet to race on dirt, but trained on it and has pedigree for it.
4 See Through - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; is 5-of-8 finishes in the money, not too bad.
Long Shot - 5 Twinkle Toes
Race 2 - 1 mile, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
2 Take Back Spring - Claimed by Kristin Mulhall off of an ugly effort; she has many back speed numbers to improve back too.
6 Racing for Chasen - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this new career low; stretched out to a mile in last and split the field.
Long Shot - 3 Abets Abet
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 3-year-olds
7 Sterling Wager - Like the cut back in distance where he should be finishing better; this bugboy still has a lot to learn out there.
3 Domingo Cat - Second start off a 7-month hiatus; Doug O’Neill adding blinkers on, suspect will show some improvement.
Long Shot - 8 Coach John
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
1 Anniversary Kitty - Last two starts have been down the hillside turf course; she has a win and a third, that’s a very good resume.
8 Ameliatheaviator - Prefer the parking lot post when coming down the hillside turf course; dead late closer from Kristin Mulhall barn.
Long Shot - 3 Fantastic Mizz
Race 5 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Codacious - Nearly overcame a tough post 10 last time to graduate; showed nice improvement and has worked well since.
7 Jean Edward - If you draw a line thru the turf clunker, her resume looks a lot better; tactical speed to lead or sit close up.
Long Shot - 6 Ain’t She Pretty
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
7 Frensham - Exits a sharp win where he looked like he had something in reserve; was huge class relief from the Malibu two races ago.
10 Venetian Mask - Eastern invader makes his SoCal debut tonight; key for me is he lands in the HOF barn of the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.
Long Shot - 2 I B Mike
Race 7 - 1 1/8th miles, $40,000 March Madness, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
4 Handfull - Has won three races in a row; she deserves top billing from this corner as she races in a protected spot this afternoon.
8 Grandiose Tactics - Claimed by John Sadler and spotted nicely to be productive right off the bat; like that he retains Tyler Baze.
Long Shot - 2 Jade With Envy
Race 8 - 1 1/2 miles, $100,000 Tokyo City, 4-year-olds and up
4 Bronzo - Gets class relief from the grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap for this; he has chased Shared Belief in his last two SoCal starts.
8 Sky Kingdom - Bob Baffert galloper just might like the distance; Martin Garcia should know him well enough for all the morning trials.
Long Shot - 1 Helm
Race 9 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
2 Nakamoto - Has been a useful turf horse who should graduate eventually; tactical speed to sit a nice trip throughout.
3 Rockin Robin - No doubt the best two races of his brief career came under Tyler Baze; he likes to get into the race and let them run.
Long Shot - 10 Pretentious
Best Bet - 4 Bronzo (race 8)
