Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, March 20

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

6 Valentine’s Reward - Sliding down the maiden claiming ladder to this new career low level; his last race beats the par for these.

7 I Heart You - Ran a better than looked race last time out; she has some back class where she could provide a nice surprise.

Long Shot - 3 Blind Dreams

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Claiming $50,000, 4-year-olds and up

1 Reno Rebel - Third start off the claim by Peter Miller; has good tactical speed and he does not need the early lead to succeed.

4 My Samurai Warrior - Might have been a short horse last time off a 3-month hiatus; figures to be tighter second off a layoff.

Long Shot - 5 Apollo Ten

Race 3 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

5 Mum’s Truckee - If anyone has followed by comments over the years, you know how much I like turnbacks; this one will be flying late.

2 Twelve Folds - Second start off the claim by Ted West; the extra furlong distance of today’s sprint will help her closing tactics.

Long Shot - 3 Rosewhatenblue

Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up

8 Ain’t No Other - I prefer the parking lot post down the hillside turf course; Been away 4-months but the key voter is Rafael Bejarano.

3 Somethings Unusual - Claimed by Michael McCarthy off an OK effort; he is a Todd Pletcher protege who figures to make a mark for himself.

Long Shot - 2 El Commodore

Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

5 Onna Bugeisha - Speedball ran OK in her first race off a 7-month hiatus; stretches out around 2-turns where the pace will be slower.

6 Taste Like Candy - Starts to the outside off the logical pacesetter; she can settle under Kent Desormeaux and make one run.

Long Shot - 4 My Sweet Addiction

Race 6 - 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

2 Meta Mu - Exits a turf try for the dirt where she has run much faster speed figures; should be able to carve out a nice trip.

7 Caradini - Logical chalk with Rafael Bejarano riding for Doug O’Neill; is bred in the pink for going around 2-turns.

Long Shot - 10 Pure

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up

10 Guggenheim - Easy choice for me picking this dead late closer from the parking lot; Victor Espinoza will know exactly what to do.

1 Pepnic - Has run in the money in all 3 starts down the hillside turf course; inside will be tough with the turf rail out 30 feet.

Long Shot -2 Forever Juanito

Race 8 - 5 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

3 Ruby N Diamonds - Elvis Trujillo takes over to try and punch her number tonight; she has good tactical speed to sit a trip.

8 Secret Appeal - Been away nearly a full year; Edwin Maldonado had choices but opted to ride this filly for Jorge Periban.

Long Shot - 6 Euroclydon

Best Bet - 10 Guggenheim (race 7)
