Boone pitches 51s to first victory

Right-hander Randy Boone allowed two hits in five shutout innings and Eric Thames supplied two run-scoring hits, lifting the 51s to a 4-1 victory the Fresno Grizzlies in a Pacific Coast League game Friday at Fresno, Calif.

Boone struck out five and walked one before giving way to Wil Ledezma and Rommie Lewis, who combined for four innings of two-hit relief.

Thames had an RBI single in the 51s' two-run second inning and an RBI double in the eighth. Darin Mastroianni and Jason Lane also had RBI singles.

Las Vegas (1-1) had 10 hits, with Brian Jeroloman, Brett Lawrie, Thames and Mastroianni getting two apiece. Lawrie scored twice.

The four-game series continues at 7:05 p.m. today.
