Mayweather-Pacquiao weigh-in will cost you

For only $10, you’ll be able to see Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao meet at the MGM Grand Garden, mean mug each other, disrobe and finally … step on a scale.

In a break from the norm, promoters of the fight and the MGM Grand have decided to charge the public $10 to attend the weigh-in for the megafight, with 100% of the proceeds going to charity, according to a report by ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael.

“All of the money that is generated from the weigh-in, every dollar, is going to charity,” Brad Jacobs, the executive event producer for Top Rank, Pacquiao’s promoter, told ESPN.com on Thursday.

This unprecedented move of selling tickets for the weigh-in was made in order to help with crowd control — with recent Mayweather and Pacquiao weigh-ins resulting in people camping out in front of the arena in hope of getting the best view of the fighters — and to raise money for charity.

According to Jacobs, the Pacquiao side will donate its share of the proceeds to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Mayweather has chosen to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation with funds from the May 1 event.

As of this writing, there were no details about how to purchase tickets for the weigh-in on the MGM Grand website.
