Burres, 51s shut out Reno

Brian Burres tossed a four-hitter, allowing only two runners to reach second base, and Randy Ruiz homered twice to lead the 51s to a 5-0 victory over the host Reno Aces on Wednesday in the Pacific Coast League.

Burres (4-5) struck out five and walked none, throwing 72 of his 107 pitches for strikes.

Las Vegas staked the 28-year-old left-hander to more than enough offense in a three-run first inning.

Buck Coats and Russ Adams led off with singles against Seth Etherton (4-5), with Coats scoring on right fielder Alex Romero's throwing error. Ruiz followed with his 13th home run of the season.

Ruiz added a solo shot in the third inning, and Brett Harper capped the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

Etherton gave up four runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked none.
