BYU WR tweets he got suspended for wearing earrings

Brigham Young University will be without two players for its season opener against Connecticut reportedly due to honor code violations.

“Rules are rules … Abide by them or suffer the consequences … Looking forward to the Texas game,” BYU wide receiver Devon Blackmon tweeted earlier this week, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Blackmon is a junior college transfer in his first year at BYU.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Blackmon then responded to another tweet with, “yea, We have team standards, and there’s consequences if you don’t follow them, I shouldn’t wear earrings But I’ll bounce back.”

Blackmon, however, has since deleted the tweets and removed his Twitter account.

The BYU Honor Code restricts students from engaging in different types of activities including drinking alcholol and holds students to certian dress and grooming standards.

Williams told reporters earlier this month that he would miss the season opener because of his February arrest for underage drinking and a second unspecified incident.

The BYU Honor Code sets standards for student dress, grooming and conduct and prohibits drug and alcohol use and premarital sex.
