Jeff Clement hit a grand slam to lead the Tacoma Rainiers to a 7-1 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday in Tacoma, Wash.
Las Vegas (22-23) struggled to score despite getting 12 hits, including 10 off winning pitcher Sean White (3-3), who allowed one run, walked two and struck out one in 7 2/3 innings.
White, who benefited from three double plays, was staked to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Matt Tuiasosopo's RBI double, Victor Diaz's RBI single and 51s starter Justin Orenduff's second wild pitch of the inning.
Las Vegas scored in the fourth on consecutive singles by John-Ford Griffin, Wilkin Ruan and A.J. Ellis before Rex Rundgren grounded into an inning-ending double play.
Orenduff (1-2) gave up three hits and four walks, struck out two and was charged with five runs (four earned).
He left with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth. Clement then greeted reliever Mike Koplove by hitting his sixth home run of the season for Tacoma (23-21).
