Colorado State routs Portland to reach tournament final
Pierce Hornung scored 24 points and added 11 rebounds, and Colorado State advanced to the championship game of the Las Vegas Classic with a 70-53 victory over Portland on Saturday night at Orleans Arena.
The Rams (9-2) will meet Virginia Tech in the final at 8:30 p.m. today.
Wes Eikmeier finished with 14 points for Colorado State, which led 33-20 at halftime and won despite going 1-for-15 from 3-point range.
Forward Ryan Nicholas led the Pilots (6-7) with 15 points.
■ Virginia Tech 66, Bradley 65 - Erick Green scored a career-high 31 points, including a go-ahead layup with 21 seconds left in overtime, to lift the Hokies (9-2) past the Braves (8-3).
Green, the nation's second-leading scorer at 24.8 points per game coming in, also had eight rebounds.
Bradley's Walt Lemon Jr. (nine points) missed two free throws with 11 seconds left and missed the potential winning basket with two seconds remaining.
■ North Florida 80, Cal State Bakersfield 70 - Travis Wallace had 22 points and nine rebounds, and the Ospreys (4-8) shot 63 percent from the field en route to a win over the Roadrunners (4-9).
■ Georgia Southern 63, Mississippi Valley State 52 - Eric Ferguson scored 19 points, and the Eagles (5-6) defeated the Delta Devils (0-8).
