Cowboys’ old home to go out with bang

Some lucky contest winner is going to get to blow up Texas Stadium.

The City of Irving, Texas, and Kraft Foods provided details Thursday of their sponsorship deal for the building's implosion -- including a national essay contest with the winner getting to pull the trigger that finishes off the iconic stadium.

The city council unanimously approved the sponsorship deal Thursday. Details on the essay contest, part of Kraft's "Cheddar Explosion" promotional campaign, will be announced next week.

The stadium, the home to the Cowboys from 1971 to 2008, will be taken down in March or April.

• RUN, DAWG, RUN -- After starting the season 1-11, the Cleveland Browns have won three straight heading into their season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And it isn't hard to see the biggest reason for the surge.

Well, then again, maybe it is.

Browns running back Jerome Harrison, listed generously at 5 feet 9 inches, has rushed for 434 yards and four touchdowns the past two weeks.

"There are some advantages to being smaller," Harrison said. "It's hard to see me when I'm running behind (Pro Bowl left tackle) Joe Thomas. He's 6-4 and huge. I'm a little guy. It has its advantage."

So, what is Cleveland's game plan for Sunday?

"We'll stay on the same page with the things we've been doing offensively, control the ball and make good decisions," quarterback Derek Anderson said, "and let the little dog run."

• HEADS UP -- A Web designer says she was struck by the decor at a New York City restaurant -- when it fell on her head.

Raina Kumra says in a negligence lawsuit filed last week that a 150-pound stuffed moose head with 3-foot-wide antlers plummeted off a wall at the Scandinavian-themed White Slab Palace on Oct. 4 and hit her. She says she suffered a concussion and other injuries.

The owner of the Manhattan restaurant hasn't returned a telephone message left by The Associated Press. Nor has Kumra, who's representing herself in the case.

Kumra filed her lawsuit in state Supreme Court in Manhattan. She's seeking unspecified damages.

• MUST WIN -- With the Cincinnati Bengals having clinched the AFC North title, they likely will rest several players in their game Sunday against the New York Jets -- who can clinch a playoff berth with a win.

"I couldn't care less," Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards said in regard to the Bengals perhaps easing off the gas. "They can play their starters, or they can bring back their Hall of Famers.

"We have to win this game. It doesn't matter what they do."

• REBELS ON THE RUN -- On this date in 1985, the UNLV basketball team defeated Utah State 142-140 in triple overtime in Logan, Utah, as the teams set an NCAA record for total points. The Rebels scored a record 93 points in the second half, and coach Jerry Tarkanian earned his 600th victory.
