FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Fishing for stripers has been fair. Anglers have been catching stripers in the Vegas Wash area with cut baits such as anchovies.

Finding and catching fish has been difficult, but diligent anglers report large stripers in their creels.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- The trout bite is still good on salmon eggs, PowerBait, PowerWorms, small lures and flies.

At Cottonwood Cove, anglers are marking fish at depths up to 60 feet but with no success.

Nevada Department of Wildlife creel census clerk Jim Berger reports, "Lake Mohave has different fishing cycles, and right now we are in a slow cycle."

■ URBAN PONDS -- Trout will be planted today at all ponds.

Tuesday plants should resume next week and continue throughout the rest of the trout stocking schedule.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- With daytime temperatures over 50 degrees, the ice has started to deteriorate, meaning ice fishing is over for the season.

Float tubers are taking advantage at Dacey Reservoir, where more than half the surface is free of ice.

Anglers are reminded that the upper end of Dacey is closed for waterfowl nesting, and the one-trout limit and artificial flies and lures regulations now apply to Dacey. This means anglers can't use baits such as worms or PowerBait.

Because of muddy and snowy conditions, four-wheel drive is recommended.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- The ice has been thick near the dock and dam, providing good ice fishing for carry-over trout.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Ice conditions are unknown.
