FISHING REPORT
• LAKE MEAD -- With cooler weather, anglers are finding success throughout the day.
The Vegas Wash arm is producing stripers. Top-water lures and jigging off the bottom have been successful, with a few anglers using live shad. Boaters have been catching stripers at the tires near Hemenway with cut anchovies. Echo Bay has been slow.
• LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing is picking up, with most successful anglers catching stripers and catfish north of the marina.
Stripers are being caught at depths between 30 and 40 feet with catfish between 10 and 30 feet. Cut anchovies and sardines have been the baits of choice.
Anglers are finding fair success for largemouth bass with purple plastic worms in coves and near structure.
Fishing at Willow Beach was good for anglers Friday and Saturday near the fishing pier. PowerBait was the most popular method, with a few anglers using small lures.
• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Fishing for catfish has been slow. Bluegill and bass fishing remains good at Floyd Lamb and fair at Sunset Park, Lorenzi Park and Boulder City's Veterans Memorial Park.
• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Trout fishing has been consistent at Cold Springs and Haymeadow for anglers using flies, lures or bait.
Bass fishing is past its peak but will remain good on all reservoirs before it slows in mid-October. Anglers have found good success for bass by casting plastics right against the weeds and letting them sink with a tight line.
• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Trout fishing continues to improve, with several rainbows and tigers caught off the dock and along the north side of the reservoir. PowerBait continues to be the popular method, but anglers are also landing fish with flies and lures.
• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Trout fishing continues to be best in the morning using PowerBait and worms.
Bass angling continues to be fair but should slow in mid-October.
