FISHING REPORT

• LAKE MEAD -- Anglers say fishing has been fair, though winds have kept some away from the water.

Top-water lures and jigging methods continue to be the best for catching stripers in the Vegas Wash arm. Catfish are taking cut anchovies fished on the bottom.

Hemenway and the beach area have been slow. Fishing is fair to good for largemouth, smallmouth and stripers near Echo Bay.

• LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing for catfish has been good at Cottonwood Cove. Catfish up to 4 pounds are hitting just about anything from anchovies to PowerBait fished off the bottom. Striper fishing is slow to fair. Successful anglers are fishing with baits such as anchovies at depths around 30 feet deep and typically from before dark until early morning.

Largemouth bass reports have been spotty, with a few taking top-water and shallow-diving lures.

Willow Beach anglers have been catching trout around the fishing pier using white PowerBait and corn-scented salmon eggs.

• LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Fishing for catfish has slowed. Sunfish and bass are hitting at Floyd Lamb Park. The next catfish plant is scheduled for Sept. 10.

• KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Bass fishing is good on all reservoirs with larger fish coming out of Dacey Reservoir.

Trout action has been sporadic on Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs for anglers using lures and flies.

• EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Anglers have reported good success at this reservoir for several weeks now.

PowerBait is still the top choice for rainbows, yet anglers are catching tigers as well. Brown trout should slow before they begin spawning in early fall.

• ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Bass fishing is good during the evening hours, and crappie are hitting jigs and flies during the rest of the day. Trout fishing is slow.
