Fishing Report

■ LAKE MEAD -- Anglers continue to find action for striped bass and catfish in the Hemenway and Vegas Wash areas. Striper boils have been erupting in both areas. Largemouth bass also are taking baits near the boils and in flooded brush. Anglers are finding success with jigs and top-water baits. Cut anchovies are picking up stripers and catfish.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing continues to improve for stripers and largemouth and smallmouth bass in the mid-lake area near Cottonwood Cove. One angler netted two stripers that weighed in at 6 and 7 pounds. The fish have been hitting cut anchovies. Large stripers in the double-digit weight range continue to take baits near Willow Beach.

■ LAUGHLIN -- Fishermen are finding a few rainbow trout along Casino Row, some as large as 2 pounds. These are carry-over fish from past stocking efforts by the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery is scheduled to renew stocking activities in mid-October.

■ LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Action remains slow at Sunset Park and Veterans Memorial Park ponds. Anglers are catching a few catfish, bluegill and largemouth bass at Floyd Lamb Park. When it comes to bluegill and bass, most anglers are practicing catch and release.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Fishing has been slow, though anglers are finding some success for rainbow trout at Cold Springs and Dacey reservoirs. The largemouth bass bite has all but shut down. Weedy conditions continue to make things difficult but are beginning to clear. Rain and cooler temperatures have been in the forecast all week.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Heavy rains have been in the forecast, but according to the National Weather Service, the storms are expected to taper off by Friday evening. Storm runoff in this area often results in murky water conditions and slower fishing, especially near the stream inlet. PowerBait and night crawlers generally are good bait choices.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Storm activity might result in cloudy water conditions that could impact success. In recent weeks, the bite has been good for rainbow trout. Look for trout in the deep water along the dam.
