FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Nighttime fishing is producing good numbers of striped bass in the upper Virgin Basin and near Temple Bar. Cut anchovies fished below a suspended light are taking fish. Anglers are seeing some boils in what's left of the Vegas Bay arm. Catfish are taking baits fished on the bottom.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- The fishing has improved from fair to good. Anglers have been catching catfish, largemouth bass and some striped bass. Whisker fish are hitting on prepared baits. Largemouth and smallies are hitting a variety of top-water and shallow-diving lures while stripers are hitting cut anchovies in about 30 feet of water.

■ URBAN PONDS -- With daytime temperatures rising, fishing has slowed, though some anglers are still catching bluegill and catfish. Whisker fish action should pick up as a result of Tuesday's catfish plant.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Bass fishing continues to be good, especially in late afternoon. Black plastic worms are catching fish. Fly fishermen might want to try a black leech pattern tied weedless. Trout have been actively feeding on top in the early morning and are taking spinners and traditional baits. Weeds are starting to become an issue for shore anglers and will be through the summer months.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Weeds are causing problems for anglers along the shoreline. There are some open spots, but you have to look for them. One lucky youth reeled in a 6½-pound brown trout near the upper end of the reservoir. Fishermen are also catching a few largemouth bass. Their presence is the result of an illegal fish plant.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Weeds are an issue. Crappie action has slowed but largemouth bass are back hitting. Anglers are catching rainbow trout from the dam.
