FISHING REPORT

■ LAKE MEAD -- Windy conditions have kept many anglers off the water, though striper action is picking up. Look for fish in the mouths of coves and in channels as they chase shad. Find the shad, and you'll find striped bass. Cut anchovies or sardines have been taking fish. Catfish are taking baits fished on the bottom. Largemouth bass and smallies are taking plastics.

■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Fishing remains fair to good out of Cottonwood Cove. Catfish are hitting most prepared baits fished on the bottom. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are taking a variety of lures. For some striper fishermen, success is coming in the late evening and after dark while still-fishing with sardines or anchovies.

■ LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS -- Catfish action is slowing between fish plants, but bluegill fishing is good at Floyd Lamb Park. The next catfish plant is scheduled for mid-June. The limit at these ponds is three fish, a fishing license is required for anglers 12 years old and older, and using any fish or parts of fish for bait is illegal.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA -- Weather has hampered anglers. PowerBait, spinners, small lures and a variety of flies will provide good action for rainbows. Bead head fly patterns such as Woolly Buggers and Prince Nymphs are good choices. Trout have been feeding heavily on small black snails.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR -- Anglers are finding good fishing for tiger and rainbow trout. Small spinners and spoons dressed in gold or silver have been taking the fish. Traditional baits such as marshmallows and worms or PowerBait have been working. The annual kids fishing derby is June 12. Call 775-962-5102 for information.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR -- Crappie and largemouth bass have been providing anglers with good action. For crappie, try small, dark brown tube baits. Spinners, PowerBait and worms are catching rainbow trout.
