Giesler, Centennial cruise

After back-to-back errors in the top of the first inning gave Birmingham (Calif.) a lead, Centennial pitcher Dylan Giesler found a new tactic.

He took care of things himself.

Giesler struck out five of the next six batters, and the Bulldogs pounded out 14 hits on the way to a 12-2 win over the visiting Pilots in the Blazer Spring Bash on Tuesday.

Giesler finished with nine strikeouts and allowed one earned run on three hits in six innings. He used his fastball to overpower the bottom of the Birmingham order and changed speeds effectively.

"They were very aggressive, too, and we kind of tried to use Dylan's change-up to that advantage," Centennial coach Charlie Cerrone said.
