Gordon, Greenwood power Lobos to rout of Air Force
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Drew Gordon scored 12 of New Mexico's first 18 points, and Hugh Greenwood opened the second half with 14 straight points as the Lobos defeated Air Force 86-56 on Wednesday night.
Greenwood finished with a game- and career-high 22 points, along with six rebounds, and Gordon had 17 points and 11 rebounds for New Mexico (23-6, 9-4 Mountain West), which ended a two-game losing streak and remained tied with San Diego State for the conference lead with one game remaining.
Taylor Broekhuis scored 11 points to lead Air Force (13-14, 3-10).
Greenwood hit four 3-pointers and a long jumper to start the second half as the Lobos stretched the lead to 54-29.
■ No. 21 San Diego State 66, Boise State 53 -- At Boise, Idaho, Jamaal Franklin had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Aztecs over the Broncos.
It was the third straight win for the Aztecs (23-6, 9-4), who stayed in a tie for first in the MWC with New Mexico.
Franklin scored 12 points in the first half as the Aztecs took a 38-22 lead.
The Broncos (13-15, 3-10) were just 2 of 16 from 3-point range and shot 44 percent from the free-throw line, making 11 of 25 attempts.
