Gorman girls star named All-America

Bishop Gorman girls basketball standout Aaryn Ellenberg has been named to the PARADE All-America team.

The 5-foot-7-inch Ellenberg was named to the fourth team. Ten players were selected to each team.

Ellenberg has signed with Oklahoma.

Ellenberg, who was the Review-Journal Class 4A state player of the year, averaged 22.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.2 assists in leading the Gaels to the state title.

Centennial High School star Alexis Byrd has been named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Player of the Year.

Gorman's Johnathan Loyd, also was named the Gatorade Nevada Boys Player of the Year.

Loyd, who also was the Review-Journal's Class 4A state player of the year, averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 assists and 3.2 steals in leading Gorman to the state title.
