HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1:20 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Dancing General - Cal-bred mare has been ultra consistent versus her own kind; she is equally good on turf or dirt.

Sweet Belle - Outran her high odds in the grade 2 Santa Barbara last time; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.

Long Shot - Nakaba

Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $24,000, Claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up

Tumbaga - Good try in last as a beaten favorite; despite a slight class rise, he is facing an easier group today.

Mesa Magic - Speedy sort got chewed up last time in a quick elongated sprint; he should relish the softer route pace.

Long Shot - Deputy Lad

Race 3 - 7 furlongs, Purse $35,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Cheyenne Queen - Taking a steep drop in class in search of victory; she could overpower these with her race two back.

Lady in Love - Dead late closer got up in the final stride; she draws well to sit and pounce from a parking lot post.

Long Shot - Four Four Two

Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $16,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Veils de Fleur - Ran a winning race last time for this bottom level maiden claimer; a similar effort will be good enough.

Reckoning Day - Exiting a couple elongated sprints where the pace was much faster than she'll face here; adding blinkers on.

Long Shot - Bullysima

Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds and up

Brilliant Cut - Chance to sit a stalking trip with her inside draw; Flores has been riding great, especially for Frankel.

Fete - Since being claimed by Becerra, she has become a turf sprint specialist; will sit midpack and try her best late.

Long Shot - Canteen

Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $10,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

Hemet Thought - Sharp closing win last time facing similar company; he has a ton of back class where a repeat is no surprise.

Echezeaux - O'Neill charge is sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low level; he has enough octane to upset.

Long Shot - Figures

Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $51,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Totally Phat - Mandella adding blinkers on and I like her rail draw at one mile; Valdivia will save ground and make one run.

Sweet Way - Tepid chalk has been an underachiever so far in her brief career; half to grade 1 winner Sweetcatomine.

Long Shot - Rocket Kitty

Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Gold War - If you're live in the pick 6 or pick 4, I'm hope you're spread out in this leg; my dart came up with this baby.

Happytodancwithyou - The longer odds of the O'Neill uncoupled entry, how's that for handicapping; Nakatani is riding too.

Long Shot - Warren's Girl Girl

Best Bet - Cheyenne Queen (race 3)

Hollywood Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$27.80; Long Shots, 8/1/$5.80; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.60

Hollywood Totals - 466/112/$719.00; Long Shots, 230/30/$330.20; Best Bets, 27/13/$52.40
