TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $41,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Follow My Tail - Bullet workouts and from a top baby barn, Walther Solis; the tote board will bear this out.
Twisp - Mike Harrington has an uncoupled entry, they figure to be tough; Rafael Bejarano and Joel Rosario are riding.
Long Shot - Spark City
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $43,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Sister Dawn - Ran creditably when third in the Santa Paula; easier spot facing her friends, clearly the one to beat.
Jaws n' Paws - Sharp debut win and Brian Koriner gave her some time; returns off a bullet work, could be any kind.
Long Shot - Pink Blossom
Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
Bullfighter - Second start off a 2-month freshening; speedball is strictly the one to beat in here.
Gray Zulu - His debut win was a lot better than the follow up try; exits a bullet work so he could mean business.
Long Shot - Belongs to Gotham
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,600, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Merrytagio - Looks like a giant facing a very slow group of maidens; could be the shortest price of the day.
Ms Treasure Hunter - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; needs to be put into the race.
Long Shot - Miss Manhattan
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $29,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Sindyfromsantacruz - Twice beaten favorite facing an even easier spot tonight; running out of excuses for losing.
Sunny Peace - She is 9-of-15 in the money on grass, but only 1 victory; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.
Long Shot - Soldier Betty
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $41,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Primed - Ran well in debut from a barn that rarely cranks them up first time out; should improve a lot in second start.
Life Well Lived - Typical green debut, slow early, fast late; Eoin Harty adds blinkers on and Garrett Gomez.
Long Shot - Honey Bunch
Race 7 - 6 furlongs, Purse $43,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
Dave's Pacemaker - Fine win off a 5-month hiatus for A. C. Avila; hard to fathom how hot and improved this barn is running.
Gotmymojoworkin - Sharp win last time on the drop; improved a lot on grass, switching back to synthetics tonight.
Long Shot - Schramsberg
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), $100,000 Inglewood Handicap, 3-year-olds and up
Lease of Life - Ran one paced in last in a feeble effort; his race 2 back, if repeated, could lead to a big upset.
Compari - No cinch with speedballs like Monterrey Jazz and Red Alert Day in the field; toughest test yet.
Long Shot - Great Siege
Race 9 - 7 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
Stray Cat - Among many dropping in class to meet today; exits a bullet work and Victor Espinoza better ride hungry.
Majestic Run - Been away a full year since a smashing debut win; Garrett Gomez named, only question is fitness.
Long Shot - Smokenomore
Best Bet - Merrytagio (race 4)
Hollywood Park Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/6/$36.00; Long Shots, 10/1/$22.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Park Totals - 52/13/$71.80; Long Shots, 25/1/$22.80; Best Bets, 3/1/$4.20
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - #8 Jet Propulsion (4/1) in race 8 at Calder. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Game On Dude ran out at Churchill. Stats - 79/57/$439.90
