All-Star Game reserves include two from Dallas

Local products Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors and Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz are headed back to the Dallas area for the NBA All-Star Game, which will include seven first-time selections.

The Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks each had two players picked as reserves Thursday for the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo were chosen from the Celtics, and the Hawks are sending Joe Johnson and Al Horford.

Rondo and Horford will make their first All-Star appearances, as will Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Charlotte's Gerald Wallace, Memphis' Zach Randolph, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Williams.

The reserves were chosen by the head coaches from each conference. They weren't allowed to vote for their players.

Also: Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James has agreed to a multiyear partnership with McDonald's Corp., adding the global fast-food giant to a list of corporate sponsors that includes Nike, Coca-Cola and State Farm. Financial terms were not known.

On the court, James was fined $25,000 by the NBA for kicking a water bottle during Cleveland's victory Wednesday over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker is expected to miss several games because of a mild left ankle sprain. He was injured in Wednesday's victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

A federal judge in Chicago ordered Detroit Pistons guard Ben Gordon's former financial advisers, California-based Larry Harmon & Associates, to pay him more than $1.3 million in a dispute over a loan. Gordon filed a lawsuit in 2007.

Giambi, Rockies finalize $1.75 million contract

Jason Giambi completed a $1.75 million, one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies, a deal that allows him to spell Todd Helton at first base and serve as a pinch hitter.

Giambi, 39, hit .292 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 19 games for the Rockies in September, when he had two game-winning hits and helped Colorado win the National League wild card.

Also: Veteran pitcher Jose Contreras, 38, finalized a $1.5 million, one-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He went a combined 6-13 with a 4.92 ERA in 28 games last season with the Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies.

Former All-Star outfielder Jim Edmonds agreed to a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, hoping to return to the big leagues after sitting out last season. Edmonds, 39, is a career .284 hitter with 382 homers and 1,176 RBIs in 16 seasons. He has won eight Gold Gloves.

Uganda plans scrapped; Holyfield-Botha delayed

The fight between former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and Francois Botha, scheduled for Feb. 20 in Uganda, has been called off because promoters were unable to deliver a promised pre-fight payment. The two instead will fight March 6, possibly in Miami, said Ken Sanders, Holyfield's manager.

Holyfield (42-10-2) has lost five of his last nine bouts and has not fought since losing a decision to Nikolai Valuev a year ago.

Now, he plans to fight twice in two months. Sanders said Holyfield, 47, will meet Derric Rossy on April 24 in Las Vegas. No card is currently scheduled on that date in Las Vegas.

Also: Major League Soccer and its players agreed to extend bargaining through Feb. 12 in an effort to avoid a work stoppage.

The league's five-year labor contract expires Sunday, and players have feared management would lock them out the following day in what would be MLS's first work stoppage.

Income for MLS players averaged $147,945 at the start of last season, according to the MLS union, but the median was $88,000 for 323 players listed.
