UNLV women's schedule includes North Carolina

The UNLV women's basketball team will host perennial national power North Carolina as part of its nonconference schedule for the 2009-10 season, the school's athletic department announced Monday.

The Tar Heels, with a lineup including former Centennial High School standout Italee Lucas, will visit Cox Pavilion on Nov. 22.

UNLV opens the season Nov. 13 at Southern Utah, then hosts Nebraska on Nov. 15.

The 14-game nonconference schedule could include up to six teams that reached the postseason last season.

Also, Noel Johnson, a 6-foot-7-inch guard from Fayette County (Ga.) High, is scheduled to make a recruiting visit to UNLV this weekend.

Johnson signed with Southern California but recently was granted a release from his letter of intent.

Johnson is considering several other schools, including Georgia Tech and Louisiana State.
