Silver Stars top Sparks to reach WNBA Finals
Becky Hammon scored 35 points, making four frees throws in the final 36 seconds, and the host San Antonio Silver Stars advanced to their first WNBA Finals with a 76-72 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals Sunday.
The Sparks led 72-67 after Temeka Johnson made two free throws with 1:57 left in the game, but Hammon tied it on a 3-pointer with 1:03 left.
Los Angeles lost the ball the next trip down the floor when Delisha Milton-Jones, who joined Candace Parker to lead Los Angeles with 16 points, was called for an offensive foul.
Hammon followed with four free throws on the next two possessions to clinch the win.
Also: Deanna Nolan scored nine of her 22 points in the fourth quarter, and the host Detroit Shock staved off elimination with a 64-55 victory over the New York Liberty in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
The game was moved from the Palace of Auburn Hills to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., because of a scheduling conflict. Game 3 is today, also in Ypsilanti.

Volleyball team earns victory over rival UNR
The UNLV volleyball team beat UNR 24-26, 25-23, 25-13, 25-18 at Cox Pavilion.
Melody Nua became UNLV's all-time assists leader, getting a match-high 42 to move her career total to 4,296, surpassing the 4,261 of Nicki King (2001-04).
Leah Maurer and Kelsey Keeler had 15 and 12 kills, respectively, for the Rebels (9-7).
Also: The UNLV women's tennis team won three of four singles flight finals at its Fall Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Kristina Nedeltcheva beat Oklahoma State's Natalia Shatkovskaya 6-1, 6-3 in flight one, Katy Williams dropped Missouri's Jamie Mera 6-1, 6-3 in flight two, and Adrienn Hidvegi notched a 6-4, 6-2 win over Missouri's Kaitlin Dunham in flight four.
The UNLV women's soccer team lost to host UC Riverside, 3-2. Dani Morin and Amanda Forrester scored for the Rebels (8-3-1).

Roddick, Jankovic net titles in China Open
Andy Roddick outlasted Dudi Sela 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3 to win the China Open in Beijing.
It was Roddick's third title of the year -- but his first since March -- and his 26th career ATP crown.
In the women's final, top-seeded Jelena Jankovic defeated No. 4 Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-3, 6-2. It was the Serb's second title this season and seventh of her career.
Also: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga upset third-ranked Novak Djokovic 7-6 (4), 6-4 to win the Thailand Open in Bangkok, Thailand, clinching his first career title and avenging his loss to the top-seeded Serbian in the Australian Open final.
The second-seeded Frenchman saved three break points in the last game before sealing his victory.
Top-seeded Maria Kirilenko rallied to claim the Korea Open title with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Australia's Samantha Stosur in Seoul, South Korea.
Street Hero beat Midshipman by three-quarters of a length in the $250,000 Norfolk Stakes, and Hyperbaric won the $200,000 Oak Tree Mile at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif., giving both horses automatic berths next month in the Breeders' Cup. Street Hero will run in the BC Juvenile and Hyperbaric in the BC Mile at Santa Anita.
The Anaheim Ducks signed right wing Teemu Selanne to a two-year, $5.25 contract.
The 38-year-old Finn sat out training camp last season and the first four months of the regular season while contemplating retirement. He re-signed in February as a free agent and had 12 goals and 11 assists in 26 games.
Alessandro Ballan gave Italy its third straight world cycling championship road race title, finishing off a dominating performance with a late breakaway to win in Varese, Italy.
