Big 12 university leaders agreed to equally share the wealth from the conference's most lucrative TV deals if its members agree to lock those top-tier TV rights into the league for at least six years.
The league's announcement Monday was an encouraging sign for the long-term health of the conference, but it is no done deal. Missouri is considering leaving the Big 12, possibly for the Southeastern Conference, and the university's board of curators is scheduled to meet today.
The revenue-sharing model had been proposed by Texas several weeks ago.
Also: No. 17 Florida will be without starting quarterback John Brantley at top-ranked Louisiana State on Saturday.
Brantley has a lower right leg injury that won't require surgery, but it will keep the fifth-year senior sidelined at least a week. Freshman Jeff Driskel will start against the Tigers.
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said sophomore Connor Shaw will replace inconsistent Stephen Garcia as starting quarterback when the 18th-ranked Gamecocks play Kentucky on Saturday.
Brigham Young coach Bronco Mendenhall said he is not ready to name his starting quarterback for Saturday's game against San Jose State.
Junior Riley Nelson replaced an ineffective Jake Heaps and directed a 96-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter to give BYU a 27-24 win Friday over Utah State.
Junior college transfer Jon Hays will start at quarterback for Utah on Saturday against Arizona State after tests confirmed Jordan Wynn will be out two to three weeks with a left shoulder injury.

Roddick loses opener,
asked about retirement
Andy Roddick lost to South Africa's Kevin Anderson 6-4, 7-5 in the first round of the China Open in Beijing, a defeat the sixth-seeded American called "unacceptable." Roddick then walked out of his news conference when asked about any retirement plans.
Roddick, 29, has dropped to 15th in the rankings after several early-round losses this year. When asked how close he might be to retiring, he rolled his eyes before replying: "I think you should retire." He then got up and left the news conference to a round of applause.
Also: Jason Line collected his sixth victory of the season and second in the NHRA playoffs during a rain-delayed final round at the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pa. Spencer Massey (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also claimed victories.
The Pittsburgh Penguins placed star Sidney Crosby on the injured list, meaning he'll have to miss at least the first week of the NHL season, which begins Thursday. Crosby is still recovering from concussion-like symptoms sustained in January.
Tiger Woods dropped out of golf's top 50 rankings for the first time since October 1996. Woods is ranked 51st this week, according to the Official World Golf Rankings. He spent 780 weeks in the top 50.
The UNLV men's golf team is fifth after two rounds of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Vestavia Hills, Ala., after shooting 16-over-par 576 (284-292). The Rebels trail leader Texas by 27 strokes.
UNLV's Derek Ernst is tied for third at 5-under 135, one stroke off the lead.
The UNLV women's golf team is seventh after one round of the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invitational in Seattle. The Rebels finished at 23-over 311, 13 strokes behind leader Oregon State.
