Tampa Bay prospect Russ Canzler belted a three-run homer off the 51s Brad Mills, and the International League All-Stars came away with a 3-0 victory over the Pacific Coast League All-Stars on Wednesday in the Triple-A All-Star Game at Salt Lake City.

The International League's Dayan Viciedo led off the second inning and reached first base on a fielding error. After a flyout, a walk and a lineout, Canzler belted the homer for the only runs -- all unearned -- of the game.

The PCL All-Stars managed only three hits, with 51s first baseman David Cooper singling in the sixth.

Also: Team Vegas utility player Brandon Garcia, a Bishop Gorman graduate, pitched the game-ending strikeout as the CCL Nationals lost 14-3 to the CCL Americans in the California Collegiate League All-Star Game in Glendale, Calif.

Garcia and Team Vegas catcher Greg Bird started for the Nationals.

Ortiz changes mind, accepts fight against Evans at UFC 133

Tito Ortiz has agreed to step in for an injured Phil Davis to take on Rashad Evans in the main event of an Ultimate Fighting Championship card in Philadelphia.

Ortiz and Evans, who previously fought to a draw in 2007, will headline UFC 133 on Aug. 6.

After declining the opportunity Tuesday, Ortiz had a change of heart and decided to step in as it appeared the organization was having difficulty coming to terms with Lyoto Machida to fill the spot on short notice.

Ortiz, a former light heavyweight champion, salvaged his career by earning his first win since 2006 with a first-round submission of Ryan Bader July 2 at the MGM Grand.

Prosecutors said they will not file charges against a University of New Mexico football player who was arrested after wearing saggy pants on a plane at San Francisco airport.

The San Mateo (Calif.) District Attorney reviewed the June 15 arrest of Deshon Marman and determined criminal charges were not warranted.
