Former Gorman standout Chaisson leaves Oklahoma
Former Bishop Gorman High School All-American Justin Chaisson has withdrawn from school at Oklahoma, the Tulsa World reported Friday.
Sooners coach Bob Stoops did not provide details about why Chaisson, a redshirt freshman defensive end, decided to leave.
"He has withdrawn from class and is going to be home in Vegas," Stoops said. "He's a guy who just decided he didn't want to do it anymore."
Chaisson, who was listed behind starting end Frank Alexander on Oklahoma's depth chart, ran into legal trouble in Las Vegas in 2009, stemming from an incident with his former girlfriend. He was originally charged with four felonies but pleaded down to single counts of misdemeanor coercion and misdemeanor domestic battery and was given three years' probation.
Also: Virginia Tech on Saturday extended the contract of football coach Frank Beamer through the 2016 season. His current deal was set to expire at the end of 2012.
Beamer, 63, is entering his 24th season with the Hokies.
