INTERNET ONLY: CHAPARRAL SHUTS OUT MOJAVE IN GIRLS SOCCER
Chaparral girls soccer coach Trevor Roberts made one thing clear Monday: No matter the score, play hard.
So after his team put up five goals in the first half of its 9-0 win over visiting Mojave, Roberts was more excited to see the Cowboys score four more in the second half.
"We had good passing, great through-balls and a couple beautiful crosses," Roberts said. "It does make me satisfied. I told them not to ever let up."
Brittanie Chavez, Chase Marchello and Breanna Gianopolous each scored twice for the Cowboys.
Sarah Concannon, Jamila Wimberly and Elsa Urena each added a goal for Chaparral, and goalies Jessica Fadgen and Kaylee Campos combined on the shutout.
Shadow Ridge 9, Desert Pines 0 -- At Desert Pines, Kelsey Tesoro scored three goals to help the Mustangs rout the Jaguars.
Caitlin Weiss and Kelsey Kurth each had two goals, and Kelsey Priest and Megan Brown also scored.
Sophomore Megan Brown had the shutout.
Durango 1, Liberty 1 -- At Liberty, the Trailblazers and Patriots each had a second-half goal in the tie.
Janie Bordinhao scored for Durango, and Ashley Hardy had Liberty's goal.
Silverado 7, Western 1 -- At Silverado, the Skyhawks scored twice within the first 10 minutes and kept rolling, with Taylor Richard scoring three goals.
Teammate Shelbi Spooner added two goals and three assists.
Palo Verde 8, Valley 0 -- At Valley, Victoria Nguyen, Lauren Dudley and Alyssa Kleiner each scored two goals in the lopsided win.
Claire O'Hara and Brittany Sak each added a goal for the Panthers.
Arbor View 4, Basic 0 -- At Basic, Stacey Brinkman and Erika Peeples each scored two goals as the Aggies shut out the Wolves.
Eldorado 1, Cheyenne 1 -- At Eldorado, Eliana Pena scored on a breakaway with two minutes remaining to give the Desert Shields the tie.
Eldorado's Maria Bonsignore converted a Brenda Gonzalez corner kick into a goal early in the second half.
Green Valley 3, Clark 0 -- At Green Valley, Kayla Varner scored two goals and goalkeeper Roz Sclores had a shutout as the Gators beat the Chargers.
Ali Schaefer added a goal for Green Valley.
Legacy 4, Canyon Springs 2 -- At Canyon Springs, Celia Myers scored two goals as the Longhorns built a 3-0 halftime lead.
Ashley Saldivar had two goals, including one on a penalty kick, in the losing effort.
Bonanza 2, Tech 1 -- At Bonanza, sophomore Tori Dunn nailed a 25-yard free kick midway through the second half to give the Bengals the win.
"She said she knew it was good as soon as she kicked it," Bonanza coach Andy Sherer said.
Spring Valley 6, Del Sol 0 -- At Del Sol, Diza Parker and Brittney Boyack each had two goals to help the Grizzlies earn the victory.
Las Vegas 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 -- At Las Vegas, Alyssia Cordova and Tatiana Garay each scored goals and Jaime Nelson had a shutout as the Wildcats blanked the Spartans.
Lea Rohan and Danica Pickett each picked up an assist for Las Vegas.
Sierra Vista 2, Foothill 0 -- At Foothill, Kristin McCandless scored two minutes into the game, and Marissa McGinn added a second-half goal.
Coronado 2, Bishop Gorman 1 -- At Coronado, Veronica Subu scored a goal late in the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie and lifting the Cougars over Bishop Gorman.
Skye Sizelove added a goal for Coronado and Claire Colquitt scored for Gorman.
