Jones, Griffin muscle up as 51s halt six-game slide

Mitch Jones and John-Ford Griffin each homered, doubled and scored three runs Tuesday to lead the 51s to an 11-3 Pacific Coast League win over the Tucson Sidewinders in Tucson, Ariz., to halt Las Vegas' six-game losing streak.

Jones' three-run shot, his second homer of the season, in the fifth inning gave the 51s (42-38) a 7-2 lead. Griffin, who went 3-for-4, led off the second inning with his eighth homer of the season.

Ramon Martinez finished 4-for-5, including two doubles and a two-out RBI single in the fourth that put Las Vegas up 4-1. John Lindsey's 3-for-5 effort included a third-inning RBI single as the 51s had a 17-8 edge in hits.

Dwayne Pollok (5-3) started and got the win after giving up three runs and eight hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Matt Riley and Greg Jones combined to pitch three innings of perfect relief, with Riley striking out the side in the seventh and eighth innings.

Matt Morgan went 3-for-4 for the Sidewinders (32-48).
