Kobe, A-Rod made for each other

Throughout much of his career, Kobe Bryant has been undefendable. As his career has progressed, he almost has reached the point of being indefensible off the court as well.

Two tweets from ESPN's Arash Markazi on Wednesday night basically confirmed just about everything that Kobe haters dislike about him.

Bryant, despite growing up in Pennsylvania and Europe and being a fixture in Los Angeles throughout his entire adult life, is a Yankees fan.

That's reprehensible enough.

But it gets worse.

Deadspin detailed two tweets from Markazi about why Bryant wasn't jovial about the Yankees' Game 3 American League division series victory. Apparently, he was unhappy Alex Rodriguez was lifted for a pinch hitter, even though Raul Ibanez hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning and a walk-off shot in the 12th.

"Kobe, a Yankee fan, didn't crack a smile when told of the Yankees finish tonight. He considers A-Rod a good friend," Markazi tweeted. "Kobe on the Yankees finish: 'I don't like that. That's not good for the chemistry of the team. I'm going to have to call A-Rod.' "

Shouldn't a real fan just be happy with the win? And who is friends with A-Rod?

Everything about this story is disturbing. The only way it could be worse is if we found out they're friends with Chris Brown and they all are planning on going on tour together.

■ SILVER DOLLARS - Spain's basketball team was none too happy with a gold-medal game loss to the United States at the 2012 Olympics in London.

In fact, the team returned to its London apartments and did nearly $15,000 in damage.

The actions of the team have been deemed "despicable" and "disrespectful," according to the New York Daily News.

The report states the exact nature of the damage has yet to be confirmed.

Based on what London apartments were renting for during the Olympics, though, that amount of money probably would pay for a broken light bulb and clogged toilet.

■ PINCH BUYER - Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter finally found a buyer for his luxurious Manhattan apartment that had been on the market since 2010.

Jeter originally was asking $20 million for the swank pad but eventually got $15.5 million from beer executive Claudio Ferro this week.

The New York Post reported Jeter paid just less than $13 million for the 88th-floor East Side penthouse in 2001. He dropped his asking price to $18 million in April.

Rodriguez was hoping to buy the place, but the real estate agent sent Ferro up to make the purchase instead after A-Rod failed in three prior attempts.

■ RUFF CROWD - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick confirmed in a statement Thursday that his family owns a dog, ending days of speculation sparked by a family photo on Twitter that showed an open box of dog biscuits.

"As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals," the statement read. "I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God's creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family."

It's also unbeatable in the pit.
