Lady Rebels to play San Jose State in Mountain West tournament

The UNLV women’s basketball team will play San Jose State at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the first round of the Mountain West tournament at the Thomas &Mack Center.

The Lady Rebels, who concluded the regular season with an 80-68 victory over UNR on Friday, tied for sixth in the conference with a 9-9 record and will be the seventh seed in the tournament. They were 12-18 overall.

If UNLV defeats 10th-seeded San Jose State (11-18, 5-13), it will meet No. 2 Fresno State (19-10, 13-5) in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The semifinals are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, and the championship game is set for 7 p.m. Saturday on the CBS Sports Network.

In Monday’s other first-round games, No. 8 Utah State and No. 9 New Mexico will open the tournament at 2 p.m., and No. 6 San Diego State and No. 11 Air Force will meet at 7.

Colorado State (23-6) won the conference with a 15-3 record and will play the Utah State-New Mexico winner at noon Tuesday. The other two quarterfinals are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and 8:30.
