Lane’s homer lifts 51s past River Cats
August 3, 2010 - 11:00 pm
Jason Lane hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning, and the 51s held on for a 7-5 victory over the Sacramento River Cats in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday in West Sacramento, Calif.
Lane's fourth home run, off Kyle Middleton (6-8), gave Las Vegas a 6-3 lead. The 51s tacked on a run in the ninth when Adam Calderone drew a bases-loaded walk, one of 15 walks issued by Sacramento pitchers.
Jeremy Accardo notched his 22nd save, striking out Travis Buck with runners on second and third to end the game. Accardo entered with one out and two on and struck out Michael Taylor before giving up Dallas McPherson's RBI double and Steve Tolleson's run-scoring single.
Las Vegas starter Luis Perez (4-3) gave up three runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked three.
The 51s begin an eight-game homestand tonight.
