Marco’s double breaks tie, Spartans rout Wildcats

Alex Marco‘s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth broke a 3-3 tie, and the LV Spartans went on to top the LV Wildcats 11-4 in an elimination game at the Connie Mack state baseball tournament at the College of Southern Nevada on Tuesday.

The Wildcats took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth after Noah Ponce doubled and scored on a throwing error. But the Spartans tied the game after three straight singles and a bases-loaded walk, and Marco‘s double put them ahead to stay.

In the late game, Bryce Bullock threw a two-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts as the LV Grizzlies eliminated the LV Bulldogs 3-1.

The tournament continues today play in the winners‘ bracket. The LV Patriots take on the LV Bengals at 5 p.m., and the Summerlin Panthers play the GV Elite play at 8 p.m.
