Aaron Mathews hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the ninth inning to help the 51s defeat the host Reno Aces 7-5 in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.
Brett Wallace and J.P. Arencibia singled off reliever T.J. Beam (2-3) to start the ninth. After a sacrifice bunt by Brad Emaus, Jason Lane walked.
That set the stage for Mathews, who was 0-for-4 before singling into left field.
Las Vegas (50-54) trailed 5-3 after five innings but chipped away at the deficit as the 51s' bullpen shut out Reno the rest of the way on five hits.
Adam Calderone hit a sacrifice fly for the 51s in the sixth and tied the game with a solo home run in the eighth.
Merkin Valdez (2-3) picked up the victory, pitching around two singles in the eighth with the help of a double play.
Jeremy Accardo gave up a single in the ninth and struck out two to earn his 19th save.
Wallace went 3-for-5, and Danny Perales, Arencibia and Manny Mayorson each added two hits.
Calderone's home run was his ninth of the season, and Jarret Hoffpauir also homered to start the game, his 13th.
