Former UFC champ Jon Jones cited for allegedly drag racing

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champ Jon Jones had another run-in with police in Albuquerque, N.M., last week.

Jones, who had his title stripped after an arrest in a hit-and-run case last year, received tickets for five violations when he was pulled over early Friday morning.

The fighter, who is scheduled to fight for the belt against Daniel Cormier on April 23 at MGM, was extremely agitated with the officer in a body cam video released on Monday.

He referred to the officer on several occasions as an “absolute (expletive) liar.”

Jones, 28, called in to “The MMA Hour” radio show on Monday to explain his side of the story. He said he had revved his engine at a car of fans who had acknowledged him at a stoplight.

The former champion is on probation after pleading guilty to the hit-and-run charge. He was also ticketed in January for failing to produce valid license, registration and proof of insurance during a traffic stop, but those tickets were dismissed when he presented the documents to the court.

Jones was also pled guilty to DUI charges after crashing his Bentley into a telephone poll in Binghamton, N.Y.

He is due in court on April 5 for the most recent incident.
