Rose Namajunas to fight Paige VanZant on UFC main card Dec. 10

Rose Namajunas has agreed to step in for an injured Joanne Calderwood to face Paige VanZant in the main event of an Ultimate Fighting Championship card on Dec. 10 in Las Vegas.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news on Twitter. UFC Fight Night 180 takes place at The Cosmopolitan.

VanZant, 21, is 3-0 and already one of the more popular fighters in the organization.

Namajunas was the runner-up on "The Ultimate Fighter" and picked up her first official UFC win against Angela Hill at UFC 192 on Oct. 3.

The UFC’s contract with ESPN expires Dec. 31 — the final ESPN card was Saturday — marking the end of the MMA company’s pay-per-view era. The UFC will move to Paramount+ in January.
