Economic downturn alters schedule for Bullring, LVMS

Challenging economic times have affected scheduling for this season's NASCAR All-American Series at the Bullring and semi-pro drag racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Wicked HP E.T. Bracket Series opens this weekend with back-to-back days of racing to alleviate travel expenses for drag-racing teams traveling from nearby states.

When the Bullring season begins March 21, the schedule will shift from weekly racing to every other Saturday night through early October.

The E.T. Bracket series opens at 4 p.m. Saturday and will feature a car cruise and pre-1972 display of cars, street rods and custom motorcycles. Racing resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday.

• TICKET DEALS -- The speedway and NHRA will offer free admission to the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals on April 3 to active military personnel who show their identification badges at the main entrance gate.

Discounted $19 general admission tickets for the April 2 to 5 Nationals can be purchased through Monday. ...

Special ticket deals are available for the Bullring's first five races, on March 21, April 4 and 18 and May 2 and 3.

Tickets purchased before 5 p.m. on Fridays of the five races can be obtained for $5, or half of the regular price. ...

The Bullring will preview the All-American series beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday with free admission to the grandstand during testing for Super Late Models, Chargers, Bombers, Bandoleros, Thunder Roadsters and Legends Cars.
