Franchitti breezes to IRL victory

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Dario Franchitti used fuel strategy and a very fast car Sunday to win the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Franchitti dominated the field, beating runner-up and pole-winner Will Power by 3.318 seconds. Helio Castroneves, back after being acquitted of federal tax evasion charges, finished seventh.

• NHRA -- At Commerce, Ga., Morgan Lucas (Top Fuel) Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) and Jack Beckman (Funny Car) won titles in the rain-delayed NHRA Southern Nationals.

• FORMULA ONE -- At Shanghai, China, Sebastian Vettel gave Red Bull its first Formula One win, leading throughout in a soggy Chinese Grand Prix.
