Local racer Kayli Barker will be featured in this week's Sports Illustrated for last month's record-setting run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring.
At 15 years and 21 days old, Barker became the youngest female to win a feature race in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series when she placed first in the Super Stock division on Aug. 18.
The previous record of 15 years, two months and 10 days was set in April by Hannah Newhouse at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. Newhouse also won the Super Stock division.
Barker has five top-five finishes in eight races and is fourth in the Super Stock standings at the Bullring. The North Las Vegas resident is a sophomore at Mountain View Christian School.
