Locals win NASCAR European team title

Romain Thievin and David Perisset, who own Exotics Racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, won the team championship in the EURO-RACECAR, NASCAR's European series.

Thievin finished second in the top-level Elite Division for the second season in a row. He finished behind Spaniard Ander Vilarino.

Perisset was seventh in the Open Division.

■ RUN FOR THE CASH - The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series is over, but plenty is at stake today and Saturday during the Open Comp at LVMS' Bullring.

The weekend races conclude Saturday with the 150-lap $10,000-to-win Super Late Model feature. Drivers from throughout the West will compete.

■ SNORE RETURNS - The next to last event on the Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts calendar takes place this weekend in Primm.

Racing Saturday and Sunday in the EXA 94.5 FM SNORE 250 starts at 7 a.m.

■ POKER FACES - NHRA fans have the chance to play poker with some of the sport's drivers Thursday at the Stratosphere.

Professional poker player Perry Friedman and comedian Kevin Burke also will be among the players.
