Musburger signs fan’s Webb poster

Though ESPN apologized for Brent Musburger’s comments about Katherine Webb during the Bowl Championship Series title game, the 73-year-old broadcaster still appears unapologetic.

When Iowa State student Matt Mummelthei asked Musburger to sign a poster of a bikini-clad Webb on Monday before the Cyclones’ basketball game against Kansas, Musburger obliged, writing “She’s a 10!” above his autograph. He then posed for a photo with Mummelthei, who was holding the poster.

While the student was thrilled with his encounter with Musburger, to whom he referred as “a great man,” he still wasn’t satisfied with his unique piece of memorabilia.

The student didn’t steal a page out of Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett’s playbook and invite Miss Alabama out for a romantic night of Buffalo wings and strip clubs, but he did boldly tweet a request to Webb on Tuesday, writing “If you could follow me and then DM me, I want to have you sign this poster of Brent and I!!!”

No word if Joe Namath ever has been approached to autograph a poster of Suzy Kolber, or if he signed it, “I still want to kiss you! Broadway Joe.”

■ RAPPER REBUFFED — On the subject of celebrities awkwardly trying to kiss female sideline reporters on live TV, rapper 50 Cent pulled a Namath on Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews shortly before the start of Sunday’s Daytona 500.

As Andrews was weaving through a crowd on pit row searching for driver Danica Patrick, she happened upon 50 Cent, who appeared to lean in for a kiss on the lips. Adept at avoiding unwanted advances, Andrews turned her head at the last instant, forcing the rapper to settle for a peck on the cheek.

50 Cent, who also recently became a boxing promoter and whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was unrepentant afterward, tweeting, “Hey I wanted to kiss her so I did.”

In defense of 50 Cent, who could call his next film “Get Kissed or Die Tryin’,” he simply might have been overjoyed to see a friendly face at the speedway. Before the race, he tweeted, “Damn, I don’t see no black people lol.”

■ BUTT TACKLE — Ever wish a player would clothesline any drunken fan who runs onto the field during a game? Well, Ruben Wiki, a rugby coach and former player in New Zealand, tackled a streaker during a recent match and immediately regretted it.

Remember Mark Sanchez’s butt fumble? Well, this was a bare-butt tackle. And, unlike Sanchez, Wiki wasn’t wearing a helmet.

According to the Otago Daily Times, “The tackle prompted a roar from the crowd and a finger-waving celebration from Wiki after security guards arrived to take over.”

The story was accompanied by a photo of the takedown, along with the headline, “Ball and all tackle from Wiki.”

■ BURGER BANNED — Free-agent right-hander Mark Hamburger was suspended 50 games under baseball’s minor league drug program for a second positive test.

We’ll resist the urge to make a cheesy joke about Hamburger getting grilled over juicing with steroid-infused bacon and pepper jack.
