Rousey keeps promise to attend Marine Corps Ball

A down but not out Ronda Rousey kept a promise she made in September and attended the Marine Corps Ball in National Harbor, Md., on Friday night.

Long before her stunning loss to Holly Holm, Rousey was asked to the ball by Marine Jarred Haschert, who made his proposal on Facebook.

Haschert's proposal said, in part, "You are my celebrity crush. Like, I love everything you do and I think that you are a phenomenal person, which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on Dec. 11 ...  I hope you take this into consideration because if you do you would truly be making my dream come true."

Rousey soon agreed, but set a couple of conditions.

"He's gotta be a gentleman," she told TMZ. "I'm not a first date kind of girl. But, I don't know, we'll see when I meet him."

Rousey was with three of her girlfriends when she accepted the invitation.

"He needs to find dates for my girls and then we'll all go," Rousey said.

There was doubt Rousey would show up. The former UFC champion has kept a low profile since her shocking loss to Holm last month in Australia at UFC 193.

Haschert’s mother told a New jersey radio station that her son hadn’t heard from Rousey since she promised to go to the ball.

TMZ confirmed Rousey’s attendance when they caught up with her Friday morning as she was on her way to catch a flight.

“I promised I’d go,” Rousey told TMZ. “It’s an honor to be asked. Honestly, I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for like another month if he didn’t ask me to go.”
