Ruiz’s two homers fuel 51s’ comeback victory against Aces

The 51s gave up a first-inning grand slam to Reno's Rusty Ryal, then rebounded behind Randy Ruiz to do almost all the rest of the scoring in a 10-5 victory over the host Aces on Sunday in Pacific Coast League action.

Las Vegas (42-49) scored twice in the third, then put up three runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings to take control. Ruiz homered in the third, and Aaron Mathews added an RBI double three batters later.

In the fourth, Ruiz hit a two-run shot with two outs, and Travis Snider followed with a solo homer to tie the game at 5. The fifth inning featured another two-out rally, as the 51s loaded the bases, and Joe Inglett unloaded them with a triple to make it 8-5.

Las Vegas capped the scoring with two runs in the seventh, on a Buck Coats RBI single and a wild pitch that brought in Kyle Phillips.

Orlando Mercado had an RBI double for Reno (46-45) in the third inning.
