Samuel leads Canyon Springs past Mojave in champs’ battle

Canyon Springs' Raveon Samuel compiled 13 points and nine rebounds to lead the defending Sunrise Region champions to a 53-48 home victory over defending Sunset champion Mojave in boys basketball Monday.

Kevin Wilson added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Pioneers.

Anthony Marshall led the Rattlers with 16 points.

• Cimarron-Memorial 74, Basic 47 -- At Cimarron, Tyler Tuliau had 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Spartans beat the Wolves.

Dillon Brummett scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter for Cimarron.

• Arbor View 67, Del Sol 65 -- At Del Sol, James Graham scored 14 points as the Aggies edged the Dragons. Del Sol's Joe Maglaras had 21 points.

GIRLS

• Del Sol 29, Arbor View 27 -- At Del Sol, Thelma Padilla led the Dragons with 11 points, and freshman Katherine Fisher added eight points and seven steals in her first start.

• Mojave 64, Canyon Springs 36 -- At Canyon Springs, Chelsea Hopkins had 35 points to lead the Rattlers.

• Sierra Vista 67, Las Vegas 41 -- At Las Vegas, Jeanette Jackson had 19 points as the Lions defeated the Wildcats.
